This is Yarntopia baby. Yarntopia is an ideal place for a yarn freak like me to rant and rave about it all. Maybe even cover a few other topics too.Laurahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11604334558430923716noreply@blogger.comBlogger12125tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6506177787470392971.post-91351502469324723302009-01-21T16:55:00.001-08:002009-01-21T16:56:46.003-08:00I'm not dead . . .. . . I just completely forgot about this thing.

Life gets in the way sometimes, I'm gonna try to blog more, and knit more. I just need 58 hour long days.

Can someone get those for me? hahaLaurahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11604334558430923716noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6506177787470392971.post-18033118622057870642008-09-08T21:25:00.000-07:002008-09-08T21:33:38.282-07:00Beware of the woman with the pointy sticks . . . .I'm in a bad mood. My knitting here lately, sucks, my second sweater is terrible messed up, 7 extra stitches, 7! And 5 too many Yarn overs!

The sock, my beautiful sock which was done up until the gusset, started giving me fits. I had 3 large bumps on the heel. I ripped out to start over and dropped stitches beyond the point of picking them up again. I ripped it all out. Then I cried.

Then there's stupid people. (don't worry it's not any of you) I've decided I can't deal with them anymore, if the sign says "Service Elevator, for employee's only" what does that mean? They don't get it, they stand on it for a good 5 minutes and wonder why the doors never close.

And men suck. But you probably knew that already, I think I'm having Post Menstrual Syndrome.

I'm off to invent my own sweater pattern. The socks are hopeless, I'll probaby give Tonya the yarn, she's a good sock knitter upper.Laurahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11604334558430923716noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6506177787470392971.post-67269934078091277822008-08-31T20:23:00.000-07:002008-08-31T21:20:45.242-07:00You would feel so much better . . . .

. . . if you would show me how to funk like you do!

Just a little Bayou Bruce to cheer all us depressed Louisiana people up. That's what Marc Broussard is. I went to see him again this past weekend (out of town of course), and he just was INSANE! I just about died when he covered "Unfunky UFO". There were at least 2 to 3 thousand people there. maybe more and maybe 20% actually knew who Marc is. The rest were quickly converted, especially the women. My favorite was the 8 year old who didn't want to come, she didn't like Marc, only Hannah Montana. Within 5 minutes of seeing Marc she was screaming "I LOVE YOU MARC" and pulling on the railing. Then she said it, she says to her mother "Momma, I don't like Hannah Montana no more". LMAO! I LOVE it!

Anyways here's me and old Bruce again . . . I'm buliding a collection of pics now. I'll send you a message on Ravelry.

Meanwhile, July 4th, Alexandria, Marc Broussard! I crochet. To do these of course you need yarn. Yarn, however does not always come in the color or color combinations you like. That's when you buy wool and Kool Aid and have some good messy fun!

Today I went to Threads Unlimited and purchaned two hanks of lace weight Merino Wool, then a quick trip to Brookshires to pick up some kool aid and vinegar (for my cotton yarn dyeing experiment).

First I soak my wool in a nice lukewarm bath of water and a tiny squirt of dish soap. No the water is not brown or dirty, my camera is just insane.

After 30 minutes of soak time the yarn moved into a glass dish, then gets covered in water. Thrilling.

Now mix a half a cup of water to a package of Kool Aid. Marc Broussard, aka the greatest voice my generation will ever hear. I think I fully regained my hearing yesterday. LOL!

The show ended a little after 1 am, I went back to the hotel (It was in Shreveport, you didn't actually think Monroe had something fun and interesting to go to did you? LOL), got in bed and I could still hear "hot pants, hot pants, hot pants make you wanna dance" This went on until mid-day Monday. My next phase of hearing loss was just deafness, everything sounded fuzzy and miles away, this lasted 2 days. By late Wednesday/ early Thursday the ringing & static set in. I seem to be over that now. This is what I get from standing next to a speaker 3 times my size, all in all it was so worth it. It was my second Broussard concert, I'm starting to know people there now. It's just an amazing atmosphere, the vibe at a Marc concert is so different than others, everyone knows everyone, you can freely talk to him and his band, and if your staring in front and move away, no one tramples you down to get your spot. Oh yes and there are no teenyboppers there either! HAHA!

Marc is such a sweet guy, he calls everyone "Darlin" with his little Coonass accent. He was sick as a dog but still managed to sound AMAZING! Pics and details coming next time . . . .Laurahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11604334558430923716noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6506177787470392971.post-63266029995663091052008-04-21T09:13:00.000-07:002008-04-21T09:24:23.851-07:00Lost in a sea of WIP's . . .Why can't I ever finish anything? Am I just lazy?LOL

I know as of right now I'm knitting about 5 different things, some are close to being finished some have been abandoned. I've been crocheting about 12 different thing for a year now and haven't finished a thing. I am lazy, or maybe I just don't have enough free time.

I am a painfully slow knitter, if following a pattern, I read it about 10 times before I actually do the stich. I then make my stitches and triple check them to be sure it's right. I think I have Knitters Perfection OCD. LOL

I finally made some needles out of bamboo skewers and dowels, they're painted or stained, just gotta seal them and apply all the pretties (crystals, beads, glitter). I hope to do that today, but I know I probably won't.

Less than a week til Marc Broussard! I'm itching for another concert after all, it's been 4 months since the last one. LOL I need a concert a week.

Well, I think I'll actually go work on the needles some more, finish something for once.

Yeah. Right. lolLaurahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11604334558430923716noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6506177787470392971.post-43950388288778077502008-04-16T23:40:00.000-07:002008-04-16T23:55:39.675-07:00First post . . .Well here I am. I done gone and got me a blog ya'll! HAHA!

So Today I went to TU (Threads Unlimited) and bought some new needles, Trendsetter Yarns straight Bamboo's, size 8 & 10. I love them! I can say I will never use metal again. They're so nice and smooth.

I took a quickie nap tonight and dreamed about a skein of Robynn's hand dyed yarn. I'm gonna have to break down I buy it I think. It's bad when you get to the point where you dream about yarn! I have too much!

I need to get rid of some of it though, all the cheapo kind. I just dunno what to do with it, it just feels so brillo pad like now. At one point some was ok, but now that I've been seduced by good yarn, there's no turning back.

Ok so onto music . . . LOL. The state of country music is horrible thanks to a band of 3 idiots, a blonde reality show winner and a hick who cuts the sleeves off of his shirts and has no shoes or problems either. Well, Lady Antebellum has come to save it, I just bought their cd on iTunes today, it's amazing, not hick-a-fied, and Charles Kelly is gorgeous, but looks don't matter right? (........) LOL But Really it's a pretty decent album. Not as Good as Marc Broussard but then again, who is?

That's enough for today, the lady here is getting sleepy and I do need my beauty sleep . . . .

Nighty night.Laurahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11604334558430923716noreply@blogger.com0
